Did You Know…
According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), three out of five home fire deaths occur in homes without working smoke alarms or without smoke alarms at all. Maintaining and replacing smoke alarms saves lives. Smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years to ensure they function properly. Over time, their sensors degrade, making them less effective at detecting smoke. Smoke alarms must be cleaned at least once a year to prevent dust, cobwebs, and debris from interfering with their sensors. Smoke alarms are required to work even during power outages. Modern alarms should be hardwired with a battery backup to ensure continuous operation.
